DPR to raise in Minsk issue of prisoners still held by Kiev

The DPR will raise the issue of the disparity in the number of prisoners transferred under the previously announced, stated Alexander Zakharchenko, the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The largest during the Donbass conflict and the first exchange of prisoners in 15 months was held at the end of December 2017. It was supposed to take place according to the "306 for 74" formula. However, the Lugansk People's Republic received 73 people, and the DPR – 165.

"We did not receive the number of people that had been promised. Therefore, I raised the issue and gave the order to Daria Morozova (the DPR Ombudsman - ed.) to raise to the Minsk table the issue of the number, let them transfer as many people as they ought to. We should keep the [announced – ed.] rate," Zakharchenko said.

He noted that at the moment there is no understanding of when the next stage of the prisoners’ exchange can take place.

"Today there is no understanding, no preliminary time, when this exchange can take place... The next stage of the exchange of prisoners will be difficult and negotiations on it will probably take a very long time. Kiev has no good will to change the prisoners "all for all"," Zakharchenko added.
